4 Most Common Types Of Book Binding Method

Book binding is one of the most important role in book printing china,the choice of binding method will directly effect of book.This article,I will introduce the 4 common types of book binding.

1. Saddle Stitching Binding

Saddle stitching is currently the most common book binding method, which is fast, affordable, and easy to read.

Product material: The commonly used paper for the inner page is 80g copy paper or coated paper, and the cover material is mainly textured paper, coated paper, white cardboard and other materials. 

Application: saddle stitch book printing,saddle stitch booklet printing,product manuals, sample albums, picture albums, contract texts,etc.

Note: The binding adopts the method of folding in half across pages, and the total pages need to be a multiple of 4. Saddle stitch book pages are only connected by 2 wire nails, because the wire is prone to rust, so the firmness is poor, and it is often used for book binding with less content

2.  Perfect binding

The flatness of the wireless perfect binding is relatively good. At present, many books and periodicals use this binding method. It uses a special adhesive and is stamped by a binding machine to paste the beautiful pages together. 

Product material: The inner page is usually 80 grams of copy paper, and it can also be directly printed on coated paper. The cover material is mainly textured paper, coated paper, white cardboard and other materials. 

Application: It is mainly suitable for binding books such as bidding documents, text materials, teaching materials, etc. It is a very widely used binding method at present.

 Note: The text needs to be trimmed after binding, so important graphic and text marks cannot be placed at the incision.

3. Wire O-Binding

Wire-o binding is mainly divided into two types: rubber ring binding and iron ring binding. Its advantage is mainly to facilitate flipping and changing pages. 

Product material: iron ring or rubber ring. The front cover and back cover are usually made of translucent or frosted film. The commonly used paper for the inner pages is 80 grams of copy paper or coated paper. The cover materials are mainly textured paper, coated paper, white cardboard and other materials. 

Application: suitable for various office materials, profiles, personal materials, business books, training materials, conference materials, wire o bound book printing,etc. 

Note: When binding the text, leave a punching distance of 7-12mm. 

4. Side stitching

 

Side binding refers to folding and matching the printed pages into a booklet, and then stacking the matching booklets on top of each other and binding them with wire or iron wire at a distance of 5mm from the edge on the side of the binding, and finally wrapping the cover. 

Product advantages: The binding method is simple, and both even and odd pages can be bound.

Note: Because the iron wire is easy to rust, the pages will be loose, and it is rarely used now. 

In short,each binding method,which has it’s own advantage and shortcoming.When we choose the binding method for our books,we need to clear to know what types of book we want to print.
